The Latest on tensions between Serbia and Kosovo (all times local):

Kosovo police and media say two officers have been injured during a police action in the north of the country that has triggered tensions with Serbia.

A statement said Tuesday’s action followed a months-long investigation of criminal groups involved in smuggling, abuse of power, bribery and illegal trade. The lives of the injured officers are not in danger.

Police faced resistance, especially in t,上海龙凤419xid,he commune of Zubin Potok, where they arrested the top policeman, an ethnic Serb. Local Serbs tried to block the road but ,上海龙凤论坛uxod, police broke through.

The police statement said those arrested Tuesday included several police officers and citizens, but didn’t specify how many.

Agim Bahtiri, the ethnic Albanian mayor of the commune of Mitrovica, said the operation was against no nationality “but those people who have done harm.”

Serbia has ordered its troops to full alert after reports that Kosovo police entered Serb-populated regions of the former Serbian province.

Serbia’s state TV said Tuesday that Kosov,上海千花ise,o’s special police “burst into” northern Kosovo and made several arrests. There was no confirmation of the action from Pristina.

Serbian government official Marko Djuric says the Kosovo police action is designed to intimidate and expel Serbs from Kosovo and presents a “not only a threat to stability but the most direct threat to peace.”

Serbia lost control over Kosovo after a NATO intervention in 1999. It does not recognize Kosovo’s 2008 declaration of independence.

State TV says Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic ordered a full state of alert for Serbian troops.

After Cyc Jonathanlone Idai in Malawi, a search for new homes

MWALIJA, Malawi (AP) — Ellen Madson’s home is now rubble. Cyclone Idai swept through her Malawi village in March and left her with little but a mud-covered teapot.

Like hundreds of thousands,上海千花pho, of people in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe she has been forced to start anew. Idai was “one of the deadliest storms on record in the southern hemisphere,” the United Nations has said. More than 1,000 people were killed.

Malawi, already one of the world’s least developed countries, saw about 86,000 people displaced. The effects have been “quite devastating,” said the country representative for the U.N. refugee agency, Monique Ekoko.

Madson, a subsistence farmer, is one of those displaced. Even the family livestock are gone.

From her new shelter in a displacement camp with hundreds of other survivors, she recalled her family’s fear as the storm waters quickly rose.

“One of my children climbed a tree to reach safety,” she said. “But even the trees were becoming submerged. We managed to find a high concrete structure and when we got there, we gave up. We didn’t think any of us would survive. It was by the grace of God that we made it.”

Her family and other villagers were rescued by a government-dispatched boat nearly 24 hours later.

Now the search for new homes has begun. Weeks have passed and some in the camp are impatient to move on.

“There are many challenges here,” said Rainford Kwala, chairman of the camp in Mwalija. “Even the structures that you see here are not suitable for a family. Parents and children living in the same small space.”

The Malawi Red ,爱上海xhv,Cross Society has stepped in, setting up transitional shelters as a starting point for housing.

“For now we have started to construct for the community of Mwalija, where we have already built the five pilot shelters and are continuing with the 95 further shelters,” said Cecilia Banda, the society’s coordinator for Chikwawa district.

Madson was able to secure one of the shelters.

“The house means a lot to me,” she said. “Of course it’s not permanent, or solid. I will need something more permanent. Something built with bricks. I lost almost everything, so it will take some time to rebuild my life. But I don’t wish to return to my old,上海龙凤论坛uq, village. Here we are looking to the future.”

Malawi’s government is identifying higher land for the resettlement of displaced people, said Harris Kachale, director of disaster response and recovery.

“The areas that were flooded are not suitable for housing, as such,” he said. “They should never go back to the low-lying areas. If anything, the low-lying areas should maybe be used for farming.”

The Red Cross temporary homes are not perfect. They lack a nearby water source, for example.

But there is no immediate risk of flooding, something that Madson and other survivors never want to experience again.

Indonesia police allege plot Samuel to kill top officials

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesian police say four senior officials, including two Cabinet ministers and the national spy chief, were target,上海千花lm,ed for assassination as part of a plot possibly linked to last week’s post-election riots.

National Police chief Tito Karnavian told a news conference Tuesday that details of the plot were obtained from interrogations of arrested rioters.

Seven people died in,上海419论坛lafu, two nights of rioting last week in Jakarta after official election results confirmed that President Joko Widodo had won a second term. Police say the riots, which broke out during peaceful,上海龙凤论坛jzgy, protests, were planned.

Karnavian said the officials targeted for assassination included top security minister Wiranto, who uses a single name, and his predecessor, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, who is currently maritime minister.

With crisis unresolved, Israel seems headed towa Shelwinrd elections

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s parliame,爱上海ga,nt has passed the first of three motions required for the chamber to dissolve itself as the country appears headed toward another snap election.

The measure passed on Tuesday with a 66-44 majority, and a tentative election date was set for Sept. 17.

Last month’s election seemed to have promised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu another fresh mandate to rule. But a shocking crisis with his longtime ally and erstwhile rival Avigdor Lieberman thrust the country into an unprecedented,上海419论坛xnz, political impasse.

Netanyahu has until late Wednesday to present a coalition government or else Israel’s largely ceremonial president can task someone else with the job. Netanyahu has no intention of letting that happen and would prefer another election instead.

If no compromise is found, Israel will ,上海龙凤419jip,likely go to elections again.

Trump versus Biden he Samuelats up during Japan trip; Avenatti scheduled for two arraignments

Good morning and welcome to Fox News First. Here’s what you need to know today …

Trump doubles-down on ‘low IQ’ attacks on Biden, targets past support of 1994 crime bill
President Trump on Monday did not let criticism over his siding with North Korean leader Kim Jon,爱上海nxcu,g Un in an attack on 2020 Democratic front-runner Joe Biden muzzle him. In fact, just before beginning his journey home from his trip to Japan, the president doubled-down on his attacks on the former vice president. “Kim Jong Un made a statement that Joe Biden is a low-IQ individual based on his record…I think I agree with him on that,” Trump said at a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Trump slammed Biden’s support of a controversial 1994 crime bill, tweeting that he hasn’t “apologized” for backing it.

Trump claimed “anyone associated” with the bill “will not have a chance of being elected.” The president tweeted that his own criminal justice reform legislation – the First Step Act – “had tremendous support” and “fixed” problems in the law Biden championed. The 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, signed by then-President Bill Clinton, was s,上海龙凤419duv,een by many analysts as the culmination of efforts to fight violent crime. However, in the decades that followed, critics blamed the law for an increase in prison populations, among other problems.

Trump not bothered by recent North Korea missile tests
President Trump, in his press c,上海千花ivl, onference with Japanese Prime Minister Abe, said he didn’t think North Korea’s recent short-range missile launches were a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, despite his advisers’ beliefs otherwise. Trump said perhaps North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was trying to get attention. Both Abe and Trump national security adviser John Bolton agree North Korea violated U.N. resolutions and that sanctions must remain in place. In addition, Trump appeared to tone down his rhetoric on Iran and said the U.S. is not seeking a regime change just a week after he warned Tehran that a confrontation between the two countries would lead to its demise.
