Tencent news on May 8th, at this year’s Build developer conference, an important measure announced by Microsoft is to use artificial intelligence to benefit the social cause. To this end, at the Build conference, Microsoft launched the AI for Accessibility project, dedicated to spending $25 million over the next five years to help people with disabilities around the world (according to the world bank’s latest data, around 1 billion of the world’s disabled people). Microsoft’s new project is very similar to the company’s previous AI for Earth initiative. In fact, the company’s AI for Earth initiative is mainly to use environmental innovation technology, and to deal with related affairs through necessary investment, donations and professional experience. Of course, as expected, the new AI solution will also connect with Microsoft’s cloud services.
It needs to be noted that Microsoft claims that the new project will focus on accelerating the development of artificial intelligence so as to help people with disabilities better and faster, thus improving people’s connections and modern life. It can be expected that the solution of this new project will be similar to other Microsoft Corp based AI products, such as Seeing AI applications.
Microsoft also announced today that the new project means exploring ways to help artificial intelligence improve the lives of disabled people. The $25 million investment will focus on developers, universities, non-governmental organizations and other institutions for artificial intelligence solutions for disabled people.
The project will be operated by Microsoft’s related team, the head of the operation team, Jenny Lay-Flurrie, who will create tools for developers and help researchers who intend to spread the artificial intelligence connection scheme to everyone.
The AI for Accessibility project focuses on the three major areas of artificial intelligence solutions, namely, the work, life and connection of people with disabilities. (compiling / gold)
