Amazon suspends new office building plans or Seattle loses 50 thousand jobs

DoNews5 (DoNews5) 4 (reporter Zhai Jiru), according to Reuters reported that the Amazon has suspended a plan to build a new office building in Seattle, because the Seattle parliament is voting on a proposal to levy taxes on large enterprises.

Amazon, vice president Drew Herdener, said in a statement: “before waiting for the City Council to vote on the tax law, Amazon suspended the Block18 project in downtown Seattle, and is considering abandoning the new building to use our recently rented Rainer Square building.”

Some media think that the decisions of parliament may affect a large number of job opportunities for the public. Previously, Amazon has said it is selecting a city to build its second headquarters, and will invest 5 billion dollars to create 50 thousand jobs.
